  Project:Integrated study into animal husbandry in the Alta Ribagorça area.
  Client:Local Government of Alta Ribagorça with the collaboration of the Department of Agriculture, Farming and Fishing of the Catalonia Regional Government.
  Summary:First integrated study into the animal husbandry sector to be carried out in the area, providing a valuable consultancy service for the farmers themselves (70% of the total), and creating socio-economic proposals and handling and management of all types of farm animals in the area.
  End Date:January 2004



  Project:"Women Artisans in mountain regions" Project: diagnosis and programme of galvanisation and dissemination of the importance of the role of women artisans and their traditional skills.
  Client:Project approved by the Lleida Agreement for Land Occupation with the support of the Forestry Commission of Catalonia and the Lleida County Council Board for Economic Growth.
  Summary:Analysis of the current situation of the emerging artisan sector in the Lleida mountain zone in the context of gender equality, focusing on women as catalysts in the diversification of the rural economy.
  End Date:March 2005



  Project:Actions to promote artisan work in rural and mountain zones.
  Client:Project approved by the Lleida Agreement for Land Occupation with the support of Catalonia and the Lleida County Council Board for Economic Growth.
  Summary:Realisation of two principal promotional actions:
  • Action 1: A Seminar-workshop to inform local artisans about the results of the "Women Artisans" study, presented at the previous meeting of PACTE and a debate among experts in the field and possible future proposals to galvanise the sector.
  • Action 2: A visit to Navarra in order to experience the project "A Guided Tour of our Trades and Traditions" as an example of a tourist attraction using the local resources. The artisans there are organised and offer this tourist attraction within their own ambit.

  Project:Training Project: Bring your new business initiative to the market using new technologies.
  Client:The course is co-financed by the Secretariat for Telecommunications as well as the Society for Information and the University Grants and Research Agency.
  Summary:The course provides rural entrepreneurs and businesspeople with access to practical "NTIC" training. Examples are: the legalities of starting a business, grant applications, designing and using tools in accountancy and management and tools for promoting and commercialising.
  End Date:July 2005



  Project:Action to promote organic produce in establishments with a link to the rural environment and the mountains.
  Client:Solsonès Local Government (Sant Isidre Fair).
  Summary:The action consists of a commercial "meeting point", between providers (distributors and producers) and buyers of organic produce (commercial establishments, restaurants and rural accommodation). These buyers are located in the rural and mountain areas in the Solsonès zone.

  Project:Census of artisans
  Client:Lleida County Council Board for Economic Growth
  Summary:The objectives of the project are:
  • To carry out a census of artisans in the areas of Solsonès, la Segarra, l'Urgell, el Pla d'Urgell, les Garrigues, la Noguera and el Segrià.
  • To introduce innovation and marketing as decisive factors in the viability of this sector.
  • To study the obstacles faced by artisans in mountain areas
  • To evaluate the creation of a brand name which identifies products made by artisans (including both food and non-food products).
  • Collaboration in recovering architectural heritage by using currently disused building (village schools, rectories etc) as centres for training, exhibitions and meetings.
  • Co-operation of artisans in organising cultural associations as well as workshops and courses for those who struggle to enter the job market, especially in mountain areas (women and young people).

  Project:Encouraging and promoting Odèn mountain potato cultivation
  Client:Odèn Town Council
  Summary:Market research into the Odèn potato in order to establish the viability of this product and possibilities for the creation of employment and related economic activity, as well as evaluating the possibilities of new work opportunities, using the municipality's own resources and proposals for action and alternatives in order to slow down the exodus of young people from Odèn.

  Project:Seminar on agricultural food production in the Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Jussà and Pallars Sobirà areas
  Client:Local Governments of Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Jussà, Pallars Sobirà and the Alt Pirineu i Aran Institute for Development and Promotion.
  Summary:The seminar took place on 19 December 2006 in Talarn. It was organised with two aims:
  • To positively promote organic products in establishments within a rural environment in the rural tourism sector (commercial establishments, restaurants and rural accommodation which offers a restaurant service).
  • To facilitate the commercial relations between producers and/or manufacturers and/or distributors of organic produce in Catalonia (the majority of these businesses are small with a limited offer).

  Project:Diagnosis of agro-industrial artisan activity and other sectors in the Alt Pirineu and Aran areas (phase 1).
  Client:Alt Pirineu and Aran Institute for Development and Promotion.
  Summary:Analysis of the artisan sector in the Alt Pirineu and Aran areas by means of a census of artisan businesses which develop activities, creating a diagnosis of the situation experienced by this sector and identifying the main challenges, strategies and action to be taken in order to guarantee its future.

  Project:Artisan work and tourism. Evaluation of the potential and synergy in Alt Urgell
  Client:Alt Urgell Local Government
  Summary:This study is a diagnosis of the characteristics of the products and services offered by the rural artisan and tourism sector in the Alt Urgell in order to evaluate potential and synergy which can be established in both sectors and to consider the relationships with existing heritage elements to be consolidated in the area. A programme of product and service proposals has been designed following the themes of artisan work, tourism and culture which could be offered as a tourist attraction in the rural environment.

  Project:Women and micro businesses in the rural environment: exchange and innovation
  Client:Project approved by the Lleida Agreement for Land Occupation with the support of Catalonia and the Lleida County Council Board for Economic Growth. And the Catalan Women's Institute.
  Summary:This action provides the creation of stable, quality work and the consolidation of the artisan sector, together with other emerging sectors, as a galvanising element in the areas under study. ('Alt Urgell and Solsonès). It is made up of two blocks, consisting of five informative exchange sessions and three visits to businesses related to the artisan sector and to businesses managed by women.

  Client:Agriculture and Fisheries Board of the Ibiza and Formentera Island Council carried out by the Forestry Commission of Catalonia.
  Summary:Market Research into planning and management of a logistical Centre for Commercialisation of Local Food Produce of Ibiza and Formentera, including the different product sub-sectors on the islands and other businesses involved.
